The appetite for all-electric pickup trucks is real, and perhaps none of the upcoming pickup EVs are more anticipated than the Ram Revolution, which is the first-ever all-electric Ram 1500. While we’ve known about the Ram Revolution for a while now, it’s only recently that Ram introduced the Ram Revolution concept via an online presentation. CloseRam also impressed with the exterior design of the Ram Revolution concept. Ram took a similar approach to Chevrolet as it didn’t feel married to the aesthetic of the standard model. This is something completely new, but Ram took it many steps further with a breathtaking style that emphasizes sleek lines and other elegant visual cues. It probably came as no surprise that all inaugural-year models with have a full-size four-door crew cab as this is by far the most popular cab configuration. Ram will pair it with its shortest bed—67 inches—but has included an integrated bed extender that lets you fit items as long as 216 inches with the tailgate closed. There’s even a console-based system that allows you to analyze cargo, see if it will fit and determine how to make the best use of your available space.
For us, and we think many others, the cabin was one of the most impressive aspects of the Ram Revolution concept. It’s upscale and stylish but also futuristic in its design, and we can’t wait to get our hands on that workstation, which boasts a work area, monitor and keyboard. That workstation is in addition to a touch screen that is centered along the dashboard. Ram surprised some with the third-row seating but also quelled concerns with the easily removable jump seats. In the front and second row, the vehicle has bolstered performance seating, and the cabin also features pass-through storage.
Perhaps no aspect of any Ram Revolution concept review gets more attention than the charging system, but much of this information has not been confirmed. What we do know is that the Ram Revolution will support Level 1, Level 2 and Level 3 charging. Level 1 requires a 120-volt connection, is the slowest option and only really usable in a pinch. Level 2 requires a 240-volt connection, and first-time EV owners will certainly want to install a home-based charger. Level 3 connections are available at DC fast-charging stations, and we expect being able to charge 100 miles of range in 10 minutes or less.
All first-year Ram Revolution models available through our dealership serving Baltimore Parkville Cockeysville Dundalk Essex will have dual motors and all-wheel drive. Range is expected to be greater than 400 miles, which is the estimate for the Silverado and Sierra EVs. You can also expect a towing capacity of at least 10,000 pounds and an output of at least 750 horsepower.
All Ram Revolution models sold by Don White’s Timonium Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram will have a standard suite of driver-assistance technologies. What has been made official thus far is Level 3+ autonomous control, an automatic parking system, a self-leveling system, voice control and biometric recognition.
