The first of our top 10 questions has to do with pickup classifications that are still used but have become outdated. You’ll often see pickups like the Ram 1500, Ford F-150 and Chevrolet Silverado referred to as half-ton pickups. That indicates a payload capacity of 1,000 pounds. The Ram 2500 is a three-quarter-ton pickup, and the Ram 3500 is a one-ton pickup. These terms are still used today despite the fact that modern payload capacities have far exceeded these old classifications.
Don White’s Timonium Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram offers two cab configurations: a four-door quad cab with smaller rear doors and a four-door crew cab. The quad cab is paired with Ram’s standard bed, which measures 6 feet 4 inches. The crew cab gives you the choice of that standard bed or a short bed that measures 5 feet 7 inches.
The third of our top 10 questions has to do with the available trim levels and which of those is best for you. The Tradesman is a work truck, and the Tradesman HFE is optimized for fuel performance. The Big Horn is targeted at the non-fleet customer considering the base model. The Laramie is the well-equipped Ram 1500 and the most popular trim level. The Rebel is aimed at off-road enthusiasts. The Limited Longhorn is a luxury model. The Limited is the flagship, and the TRX is aimed at off-road enthusiast who wants a performance pickup truck.
The base model has 18-inch steel wheels. Those are upgraded to alloy with the Big Horn. There are also 20-inch wheels that are standard with the Longhorn and up.
They’re essentially the same truck outside of some minor aesthetic differences. Lone Star is simply the marketing name Ram uses in Texas. It uses Big Horn everywhere else.
The sixth of our top 10 questions has to do with the available powertrains, which all feature an eight-speed automatic. A V6 standard. A V8 is optional. You also have the option of a turbo-diesel V6, and a supercharged V8 is exclusive to the TRX.
Yes. With most 2023 Ram 1500 trim levels, rear-wheel drive is standard, and four-wheel drive is optional. The TRX is the exception. It comes standard with four-wheel drive.

Uconnect 4 with a 5-inch touch screen is standard. Don White’s Timonium Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram offers Uconnect 5 with either an 8.4- or 12-inch screen as an option.
The last of our top 10 questions about the 2023 Ram 1500 deals with the driver-assistance technologies, and both a rearview camera and trailer sway damping are standard. Forward collision mitigation is standard with the Laramie and up. Front and rear parking sensors are standard with the Longhorn and up. The Limited adds blind-spot warning.
